MIND ID Group Assists Halal Certification to Boost Added Value of Foster Partners
Jakarta, 15 April 2024 – It is important to raise the added value of products for micro and small enterprises (UMK). One such effort is to acquire the halal certificate.
MIND ID, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, is committed to continue being the best partner for the growth of UMK’s performance.
MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf, explained that the performance of the UMK segment is currently facing a special challenge in terms of raising the added value.
“Together with all MIND ID Holding Members, we continue to conduct proactive efforts to present appropriate programs in accompanying business players to provide added value,” he said.
Such efforts are being conducted by a member of the company, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM). This year, ANTAM is providing halal certification facility to 13 of the UMKs under its partnership.
In this halal certification program, ANTAM netted as many as 13 foster partners, all of which are involved in the food and beverage business.
The foster partners also received a number of benefits from the halal certification, one of which is the halal label which ensures the halal authenticity of the products sold.
This way, the UMK products are better accepted in the market, particularly by Muslim consumers who need halal products in the domestic as well as international markets.
Another MIND ID Group Member, PT Timah Tbk, assists the UMKs under its partnership, to get halal certification of products from the Indonesia Ulemas Council or Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) free of charge, in order to raise the quality and competitiveness of products.
In 2023, PT Timah Tbk facilitated 20 products of its foster partners to obtain halal certification free of charge. In 2022, a total of 19 UMK products of its foster partners received halal certification facilities free of charge.
In South Sumatera, MIND ID Group Member, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), also takes part in assisting the Mushroom Bukit Asam Industrial Center or Sentra Industri Bukit Asam (SIBA) Jamur, to arrange for the halal certification.
Currently, SIBA Jamur employs 15 people, 12 of them housewives, who can “breathe” a sigh of relief, after getting the halal certificate.
“We already have the halal certification, now we can grow our business calmly,” said SIBA Jamur Chairperson, Rahmawati.
