MIND ID Conducts Journalist Competition with the Theme Mining Products for Lives

Jakarta, 11 October 2022 – MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, conducts a journalist competition with the theme “Mining Products for Lives”. This first competition for journalists is called MediaMIND 2022.

MIND ID Division Head for Institutional Relations, Niko Chandra, explained that the theme comes from the reflections of the holding state-owned enterprise with members PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum (Persero) dan PT Timah Tbk, which manages mining commodities beneficial for lives.

“Mining products are beneficial for human lives, the theme ‘Mining Products for Lives’ will be divided into five sub-themes which the journalists can select,” said Niko. “The five sub-themes are reflections of the ways MIND ID manifests the mandate of the Government related to the management of Indonesia’s strategic natural resources,” he added.

The five sub-themes of the journalist competition constitute the Rising Growth of Exploration and Production; Digitalization of the Mining Industry; Developing Global Scale Downstream Assets; Strategic Alliance to Expand Downstream Business; and Optimizing Portfolio and Sustainability.

There are four categories in the MediaMIND 2022 competition, namely, News Feature Category for the Print Media and Online Media, Hard News Category for the Print Media and Online Media, Foto Category; and Television Category.

All journalistic entries shall be articles which has been published in the media of the related journalist during the period of 16 October 2021 to 16 October 2022.

Niko explained that the theme “Mining Products for Lives” in general depicts the progress of the MIND ID Group, specifically in the aspects of exploration, operation and production, management, human capital, finance, and business development.

“We have implemented these through our strategic and active management policies in every business process of the MIND ID Members,” Niko said.

In a written statement, the MIND ID Group continues to drive the business competitiveness of each commodity – from ferronickel, nickel ore, gold, bauxite, coal, aluminium, copper to tin. Throughout 2021, the majority of the commodities under its management has contributed positively to the Company.

Aside from the focus on operational performance, the MIND ID Group is also committed to environmental performance. In 2021, the MIND ID Group posted realized reclamation obligations of 931.25 hectares throughout the year. While up to 2021, total reclamation areas came to 5,814 hectares.

Niko went on to say that for the best entries, a total prize of Rp200 million will be given to the first to third winners in the four categories.
