MIND ID receives Gold Proper Award for Good Mining Practice and Circular Economy

The award for company performance in environmental management or better known as PROPER is an evaluation of the company’s environmental management compliance and performance based on measured indicators.

The Indonesian Ministry of the Environment and Forestry implements this program with the aim of accelerating the role of companies in environmental performance, while at the same time, produce stimulants in compliance with environmental regulations, as well as added value towards the conservation of natural resources, energy and community development.

Moreover, PROPER was also designed to encourage compliance of the company towards environmental management through incentive and disincentive instruments.

PROPER 2022 would be the 27^th time the program is conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to evaluate performance and contribution of companies towards environmental management.

The MIND ID Group was given a number of Gold PROPER Awards for the performance of its members, namely, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), PT INALUM (Persero), PT Timah Tbk.

Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin handed over the awards, accompanied by Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya, at the Vice Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/12/2022).

In her address, Siti Nurbaya extended her appreciation to the Companies that have made the utmost contribution to protect the environment and nature of Indonesia. “PROPER is the Government program to evaluate performance and protection of the surrounding environment, as well as encourage the business world to accelerate their environmental management performance to continually grow and make improvements in a sustainable manner, in line with the developments in the midst of communities and science,” she said.

The Gold PROPER is the highest award given to companies who have adopted energy efficiency system and renewable energy, use of water and reduce water pollution, protect natural resources and biodiversity, reduce and reuse waste.

Aside from the energy and environmental aspects, also taken into account in PROPER is the performance of the company in providing employee satisfaction, empowerment and social innovation.

Related to the evaluation process of PROPER, MIND ID’s President Director, Hendi Prio Santoso, explained that “MIND ID has a Noble Purpose to guide the direction and purpose of our business, which is ‘We Explore Natural Resources for Civilization, Prosperity, and Brighter Future’. This is also the message that we wish to deliver to the public with the presence of the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry.”

“We run our business and operations ensuring sustainability and adopting Good Mining Practice, encouraging Circular Economy in every business chain, so that business continuity is maintained.  We invite and involve the surrounding communities to support the business and value chains of the Company,” he added.

MIND ID Members received four Gold PROPER awards, PT Bukit Asam Tbk – Tarahan Port Unit, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Persero), PT Timah Tbk Kundur Metallurgy Unit, and PT Timah Tbk Muntok Mettalurgy Unit.

Aside from the Gold PROPER, the MIND ID also received a total of 8 Green PROPER, and 12 Blue PROPER with the performances of PT Antam Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Inalum (Persero), PT Timah Tbk, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk.

MIND ID’s Director of Institutional Relations, Dany Amrul Ichdan, represented PT Inalum (Persero) in accepting the awards. “Thank you for all the contribution and hard work of the MIND ID Group team, PT Antam Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum (Persero), PT Timah Tbk, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, in maintaining our mutual commitment to realize continuity and sustainability. As the Decarbonization Program Pioneer in Indonesia and also the Spearhead of the Mining Product Downstreaming Program, MIND ID will continue with its commitment to maintain operational and mining performance in compliance with the PROPER principles,” Dany disclosed.
