Micro-Small Enterprises (MSE) Thriving under MIND ID Group’s Guidance

Jakarta, 22 January 2024 – The advancement of Micro Small Enterprises (MSE) has a big role to play in the equality of the people’s economic level in Indonesia’s economy.  Therefore, strong support from stakeholders is necessary to continue developing the Micro Small Enterprises (MSEs) in the country. 

MIND ID, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, is one of the government institutions consistently promoting MSEs in the country. MIND ID understands the importance of the MSEs in providing a significant contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) and absorbing manpower.

The development of MSEs cannot be separated from guidance and expansion of the market, as capital assistance is not enough. The MSEs are the spearhead of the economic foundation, which is why the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, with members PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT INALUM and PT Timah Tbk, continue to provide guidance to MSEs.

MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf, said that MIND ID and its members are committed to promoting MSEs in Indonesia, specifically in the operational areas of the company. Various programs are implemented by the MIND ID Group in an effort to promote MSE players.

Among the members of the MIND ID Group, MSEs under the guidance of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM) receive capital assistance, training on how to manage a business, management, and how to market the products produced by the MSE. 

“MIND ID continues to provide added value for Indonesia, one of which is through the MIND ID Group’s program to promote MSEs. Aside from providing capital, we also conducted various training programs for marketing assistance for MSEs under the guidance of the MIND ID Group,” said Heri Yusuf.

Ladon Pengrajin Anyaman Lidi, the palm stick weaving group located in West Kalimantan, is one of the recipients of assistance from PT ANTAM Tbk. Emiliana Sumarni, Head of the Ladon Pengrajin Anyaman Lidi stated that with assistance from PT ANTAM Tbk, she was able to provide work for housewives in West Kalimantan.

“Due to ANTAM’s assistance, the business of palm stick weaving plates which we have managed since 2009, became an organization capable of producing economic value for housewives who do not have work,” said Emiliana.

Another member of the MIND ID Group, PT Timah Tbk, successfully implemented the Micro and Small Business Funding Program (PUMK). This program aims to provide capital as well as guidance to MSEs under the company. 

One of its success stories of MSEs receiving assistance from PT Timah Tbk’s PUMK program is Rizal, from Rintisan Gang Kemiri Selatan Panjang, Meranti Island Regency, who was successful in developing his laundry business. Rizal now has two branches of his laundry business due to the capital assistance provided by PT Timah’s PUMK program.

Then there is also PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) which succeeded in providing guidance and capital to Yayasan Jayasakti Mandiri (YJM), at Utikini Baru Village (SP 12). YJM is evidence of PTFI’s success in implementing its social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) in promoting MSE players in Papua.

“PTFI continues to spur economic growth to provide added value to the local people through the competitive advantage of each area. Welfare is not only limited to ambition but must be felt by the Papuan people with the presence of PTFI,” said Heri.
