Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, appreciates all State-Owned Enterprises who have supported the National Tree Planting Month

MIND ID GROUP Supports the Success of State-Owned Enterprises Program: Planting Trees, Planting Core Values

Sawahlunto, 2 December 2022 – In support of the National Tree Planting Month, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), member of the MIND ID Group, takes part in simultaneously planting trees in 6 municipals/regencies, lead by Minister of State-Owned Enterprise, Erick Thohir, on Thursday (1/12). PTBA conducted the tree planting activities in Sawahlunto, West Sumatera.

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, appreciates all State-Owned Enterprises who have supported the National Tree Planting Month, by planting 4,655,115 trees throughout 2022, exceeding the target which had been set at the beginning of the year, which was 1,000,000 trees.

“In commemorating National Tree Planting Month, I invite all employees of State-Owned Enterprises and the general public to support and take part in the #Planting Trees, Planting Core Values campaign, considering that the planting of trees which shows human concern towards the surrounding environment, is an example of core values,” he said.

MIND ID’s President Director, Hendi Prio Santoso, welcomes the initiative as it is in line with MIND ID’s sustainability path and the Sustainable Development Goals. “The MIND ID Group, as the pioneer of the decarbonization program in Indonesia, takes active part in protecting the environment and climate in Indonesia. This is in line with SDGs, specifically point 13, climate action,” he said.

“Some time ago, MIND ID also donated 100 thousand breadfruit seedlings for the greening efforts of the new capital city of Nusantara, in collaboration with PPAD or Association of Indonesian Army Retired Officers. We shall continue this commitment together with all Members of the Holding Company,” Hendi added.

MIND ID’s Member, PTBA, planted 50 mangosteen trees, 100 durian trees, 100 avocado trees, 50 betel trees, 100 jackfruit trees and 100 longan trees, at the Kayu Gadang site which is a post-mining land of PTBA. The area is 1.2 hectares in size. The planting of the trees would be beneficial for post mining reclamation efforts as well as helping to raise the local economy.

The tree planting activities at Sawahlunto Municipality was attended by Deputy Mayor of Sawahlunto, Zohirin Sayuti; PTBA’s Director of Business Development, Rafli Yandra; PTBA’s General Manager of Ombilin Mining Unit, Yulfaizon B Dahlioes; PTBA’a General Manager of Kertapati Port Unit, Hengki Burmana; and PTBA’s Commercial SVP, Hadi Yuwono.

PTBA’s Director of Business Development, Rafli Yandra, is proud at being able to participate in supporting the National Tree Planting Month. Sustainable development is the end goal of PTBA as a mining company. This is in line with the noble purpose of PTBA as member of MIND ID, which is exploring natural resources for civilization, prosperity and a brighter future.

“PTBA expresses its appreciation to the Government who has extended the invitation to get involved in the joint tree planting program as part of the environmental conservation efforts. We are committed to continue implementing good mining practices to drive sustainable business as well as contribute to national economic development,” he said.

The simultaneous planting of tree at six points by five State-Owned Enterprises are conducted at Bakauheni-Lampung, Sawahlunto-West Sumatera, Ciliwung River Catchment Area-Jakarta, Kebumen, Semarang and Magelang in Central Java.

The Planting Trees, Planting Core Values activities which was held on 1 December 2022 is an implementation of Indonesian Presidential Decree No 24 of 2008 on the stipulation of 28 November as Indonesian Tree Planting Day and December as National Tree Planting Month.

The tree planting program is also an activity in collaboration with the Social Environment Responsibility Program in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 1 (No Poverty); number 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation); number 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), number 13 (Climate Action), number 15 (Life on Land), and number 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
