MIND ID Signs MOU with STAMICO, during Indonesian Presidential Visit to Tanzania

Jakarta, 22 August 2023 – MIND ID, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, takes part in the Presidential State Visit to Tanzania, Africa. During the visit,  PT Mineral Industri Indonesia (Persero) MIND ID signed an MOU with STAMICO State Mining Corporation.

STAMICO, a state enterprise in Tanzania, is the investment arm of the Tanzanian Government in the entire spectrum of mineral chain activities, from mining, processing, beneficiation, and trading, in various regions in Tanzania. While MIND ID is a mining industry of the Indonesian government, with several Members, and a proven track record in the exploration of minerals, mining, and processing of mining products.

“The background of this company has prompted MIND ID and STAMICO to acknowledge the benefits of working together in the field of mineral exploration. Moreover, we also admit the importance of raising the capacity in this sector,” said MIND ID Vice President Director, Dany Amrul Ichdan.

MIND ID as well as STAMICO both want to develop a collaboration and partnership framework to boost joint development. Both companies also wish to share technical information, expertise, and best practices in mineral exploration.

The Companies, through this cooperation, will be able to explore potential investments in the mining sector for joint development. That is why, MIND ID and STAMICO have signed an MOU aimed at determining the terms and conditions which regulate both their cooperation in mineral exploration and raising capacity.

The main purpose of the MOU is to promote and facilitate cooperation between STAMICO and MIND ID, including members, in mineral exploration activities. However, this is not only limited to mineral exploration from the grassroots to the development, construction, and mining phase.

Another purpose is to facilitate the exchange of technical knowledge, expertise, and best practices related to mineral exploration and mining operations. Furthermore, this cooperation is also aimed at supporting the efforts to raise capacity based on various experiences, training programs, and promoting the transfer of technology in mineral exploration.

Not only that, MIND ID and STAMICO together also want to explore the opportunities in potential investments and drive sustainable mining project development.

The implementation of specific activities based on the MOU also needs a separate and formal definitive signing. With the signing of such an MOU, MIND ID and STAMICO have agreed to work together in unlimited fields, one of which is geology.

The geological cooperation covers all phases of mineral exploration, from grassroots to construction, handling of geology data, research, and technology. Meanwhile, cooperation in mineral exploration drilling activities makes use of STAMICO’s drilling experience of more than 50 years.

This can be utilized in surface and underground mineral exploration drilling, using several drilling methods, including Aircore, Rotary Air Method explosion, Reverse Circulation, and Diamond Drilling Method.

MIND ID and STAMICO cooperation also covers training and capacity building, environmental and social responsibilities in mineral exploration, joint development of mining projects in Tanzania and/or overseas, as well as other cooperations which are considered profitable.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi disclosed that the root of Indonesian and African countries' history is very strong since the 1955 Asian African Conference and the 1951 Non-Aligned Movement.

“The Bandung Spirit should be strengthened for solidarity and collaboration between countries in the Global South, which has 85 percent of the world’s population, in order that the world hears the voice and interest of countries in the Global South, including the right to conduct a leap in development,” said Jokowi.
