MIND ID Intensifies Social and Environmental Responsibility Program to Commemorate World Environment Day
Jakarta, 5 June 2024 – MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, continues its commitment to conserve the environment in the areas around its operations. To commemorate World Environment Day, which is dated every 5 June, MIND ID continues to implement its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program which supports a greener earth.
MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf, said that environmental conservation and climate change are the challenges of the modern era, which must be responded to by providing actual contribution. Towards that aim, all members of MIND ID are committed to taking part as key players in the efforts to deal with the impacts of climate change.
“In facing the challenges of climate change, the MIND ID Group intends to continuously be a company with a strong commitment to the public and the environment. We want to ensure our natural heritage is conserved for a sustainable future,” he said.
Towards that purpose, Heri explained various Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs in the environmental sector which all members of MIND ID must conform to. For example, the flagship TJSL in MIND ID's environmental priority areas includes the Multi-Purpose Tree Species (MPTS) Nursery program for a Greener Earth in Sentul Bogor as well as the Fishing Ground program at the waters area of Rebo Village.
The Multi-Purpose Tree Species Nursery (MPTS) program which is being implemented at Sentul, Bogor, is a solution to provide seeds beneficial for the ecology and economy.
The realization of the wood plant and fruit nursery at Sentul Nursery, Bogor, managed by Yayasan Bumi Selaras (YBSS), consists of 100,000 seeds distributed to the public and Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
He believes that the achievement of the program is not only viewed from the number of seeds that have been distributed but also from the positive impact it has made.
“Through the MPTS nursery activities in Sentul, the company wants to spread a positive impact on the environment and its surrounding people. This program empowers the people, while at the same time, boosts environmental conservation campaign,” he said.
Another leading program, implemented by PT Timah, which also supports conservation efforts, is the fishing ground, to improve the living conditions of fishermen.
This program is designed to raise the fishermen's access to more stable fishing resources, by creating aru fish fishing ground, through the sinking of 170 fish aggregating devices and 30 squid attractors.
“This program has successfully raised the access of the fishermen towards fish, as well as strengthened underwater life, raised food security, and provided new opportunities for developing recreation and tourism,” he said.
