MIND ID Invites People to Protect the Sea

15 July 2025

Jakarta, 15 July 2025 – MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, has consistently implemented responsible marine mining operations. The sustainability program is also implemented to ensure that the marine ecosystem continues to be well-maintained after mining activities are realized.

Through the Technical Working Meeting of the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management (PRL) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries on 15 July 2025, MIND ID presented the educational booth with the theme “Protecting the Sea Through Concrete Action”, visited by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and welcomed by MIND ID Vice President Director, Dany Amrul Ichdan.

Trenggono appreciates the steps of MIND ID in educating the public so that marine resources are used responsibly and sustainably to support the climate change program.

Trenggono conveyed that the activities to create economic added value in the marine area must be implemented responsibly and accompanied by various protection programs.  In that way, the biodiversity ecosystem and wealth of natural resources at sea can be maintained in the long term.

“We have to begin our steps together to get better organized. That way, efforts of reclamation, conservation, industry, and tourism can be operated jointly so that the contribution resulting from the sea will be even bigger in the future, including climate protection,” he said.

Dany conveyed that the marine space has huge economic potential, especially for the MIND ID Group, which also has a mining operational license for the marine area.

MIND ID is committed to consistently running its operations at sea in a responsible manner by implementing a comprehensive post-mining program.

“The sea is an operational area which has many potentials, and we are here to provide economic benefits, while simultaneously also being proactive in running various marine conservation activities to be handed down to the future generation,” he said.

Dany said that MIND ID presents an education booth with information from marine mining operations in Bangka Belitung, to an Interactive Box.

Visitors can study about tin mining operations in Bangka Belitung using Bucket Line Dredges, Production Suction Dredges, and Bucket Wheel Dredges, capable of mining at a depth of 75 meters.

These ships fulfill strict environmental standards in order to ensure that mineral production remains sustainable without damaging the marine ecosystem, and have become the main contributor of 52% for tin production at PT Timah Tbk.

The realization of the sustainability program in Bangka Belitung waters is also implemented to support the biological ecosystem, with the transplanting program of coral reefs, the installation of fish shelters, to the placement of artificial reefs.

Furthermore, visitors can see various sustainability program documentation, such as mangrove planting to protect coastal areas, coaching of fishermen, to the construction of fish shelters as marine biota habitat.

Finally, visitors will find a mirror in a box that contains messages to take part in real actions to protect the sea. An invitation to implement real actions that impact marine conservation, such as reducing plastic waste.

Dany explained that MIND ID not only presents program achievements, but also proactively adds messages to invite people to protect the sea.

“The sea is a connection for Indonesia, which has thousands of islands. The same as MIND ID, which is a connection for the added value creation of mineral resources in Indonesia, which becomes an end product with higher beneficial value in supporting the future development of civilization,” said Dany.
