Jakarta, 30 August 2024 – Stunting is quite a serious issue for a country. The reason being that stunting can undermine the growth potential of a child, thereby impacting on health, even death.

If stunting occurs in great number, one can imagine the impact on the sustainable growth of a country. That is why, an early anticipative program is required which can assist mothers and children in Indonesia.

MIND ID, or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, is conducting proactive efforts to support the health promotion of mothers and children as well as the issue of mental health, through the initiation of its program called Ruang Tumbuh or Room for Growth.

In the implementation of the Ruang Tumbuh 2024 program, Minister of State-Owned Enterprise, Erick Thohir, visited the Posyandu at Kelapa Gading Sub-district, North Jakarta, which is one of two Posyandu piloting locations for the Ruang Tumbuh program.

“This program is also intended to provide a holistic support for the growth and development of children, through health care, day care centers and parental support,” he said.

Heri explained that the program to promote the health of mother and child becomes part of MIND ID’s Social and Environmental Responsibility Program.

Throughout last year, the MIND ID Group supports the health of mother and child in dealing with stunting for 20 posyandus in the villages located in the surrounding areas of the mines, with interventions for 102 children and 97 posyandu cadres, 110 units of clean water, and 12 units of Mandi Cuci Kakus – MCK or public bathing, washing and toilet facilities.

“We shall implement and develop programs such as these, in order to assist the government to ensure a better future for Indonesia,” he explained.
