MIND ID Maintains Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Managing Mines

Jakarta, 18 August 2023 – MIND ID, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, is continuously committed to raising the value of gender equality and inclusion in managing its human resources. Ten percent of the workforce of the MIND ID Group, with members PT ANTAM Tbk., PT Bukit Asam Tbk., PT Freeport Indonesia, PT INALUM, dan PT Timah Tbk., are women.

The MIND ID Group has 10 percent of women in its workforce, with 16.22 percent among them as members of the Board of Commissioners or Board of Directors of the MIND ID Group.

Moreover, women sit in important positions on the Board of Commissioners and Board of Directors of the MIND ID Group.

“Percentage-wise, as many as 16 percent of the BOC and BOD Group of MIND ID are women,” said MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf.

He hopes that the women in the MIND ID Group should not feel shackled (intimidated) or even obstructed by the stigma that the mining and metal industry sector is dominated by men.

“This is just limited to the thought that the mining and metals industry is controlled and dominated by men. The MIND ID Group ensures the same opportunities for all employees, from recruitment, assessment of work, promotions, to remuneration decisions,” he said.

Becoming a career woman is considered the right and choice of women. There are many examples of great women who determine their own fate by having a career in the external sector.

One of these stories is Yoga Amaliasari who opted for a career in the external sector. Not only that, Yoga managed to be Manager of the Manyar Smelter Project Construction, of a MIND ID Group Member, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI).

Yoga is seen wearing construction gear and a helmet when speaking to one of the workers at the Manyar smelter project area, in Gresik, East Java. She seemed serious in giving directions to her crew when visiting the field.

This is the routine activity of Yoga as construction manager of the second copper smelter and concentrate processing project owned by MIND ID Group member, PTFI.

Yoga is one of the young women who has an important position in the downstreaming project of the MIND ID Group’s mining industry. Being a woman has not deterred Yoga from achieving her ambition.

She showed that she is capable of competing and reaching her dreams in the construction industry sector which is mostly dominated by men. Yoga was capable of bringing down the barriers of the patriarchy culture which considers women as weak and always under the men.

“The construction world provides many opportunities as many fields are available and can be filled, it just depends on what talents you have and what can be applied in the construction project,” said Yoga.

She said that men or women have the same chance to achieve their ambitions. The rights of women to be independent are the same as the rights of men in the women’s emancipation era.

“Men or women can have the same and equal role, including having a career in the mining industry,” she said.

Yoga invites women not to be afraid to put their ambitions as high as the sky. Empowered women are not only a thought but can become an ambition that can be reached. And Yoga has already done that.

“Work hard, work smart, and do not be afraid of making a move, a small or whatever step taken will bring you closer to your ambition although it is as high as the sky. Here’s wishing you find your role,” she said.
