MIND ID Trains Agricultural Micro and Small Enterprises, Encourage Productivity, and Creates Food Security
Jakarta, 18 March 2025 – MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, continues to strengthen the national economy’s agricultural sector through social and environmental responsibility programs.
This program is expected to raise the competitiveness of the Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK) under its guidance in the agricultural sector, to become more productive and sustainable.
MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf, disclosed that the agricultural Micro and Small Enterprise training is in tune with the national food security program launched by the government.
MIND ID, together with all MIND ID Group Members, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum, PT Timah Tbk and PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, are committed to support agricultural business players in raising their productivity, expanding their market share, and achieving a more competitive economic scale.
“Micro and small enterprise products in the agricultural sector are one of our priorities. MIND ID will consistently support the government’s program in order that, together, we may achieve the 2045 Gold Indonesia,” explained Heri Yusuf.
One of the initiatives currently running is the Sheep Cultivation Program initiated by ANTAM at Cisarua Village. This program is not only a livestock business, but also part of a community-based national defense strategy.
To date, the program has assisted in opening job opportunities for the people, raised the income of scores of local livestock farmers, with production continually rising.
PT Timah Tbk has also developed Tanjung Ular Farm Estate, a modern agricultural area in Mentok, West Bangka Regency.
This region has been designed as an integrated agricultural center, combining the agricultural, livestock, and fishery sectors into one sustainable ecosystem. The harvest from this region is absorbed by the local market, supporting the employment and economy of the surrounding communities.
That’s not all, MIND ID also encourages women’s empowerment in the agricultural sector. PT Timah Tbk, for instance, initiates a hydroponic program at Sawang Lot Village, in which women are trained to manage modern agriculture independently. This program has raised the income of families and supports local agricultural defense.
Meanwhile, PT Bukit Asam Tbk has constructed a solar power plant for agricultural irrigation in Muara Enam Regency.
Based on this facility, the planting season in several villages has risen to three times a year, with grain production reaching 14.9 tons in 2023.
“With these programs, MIND ID endeavours to ensure that the mining industry downstream efforts will not only impact the macroeconomic sector, but also strengthen the Micro and Small Enterprises and local people’s welfare in the areas around its operational areas,” he stressed.
