MIND ID Strengthens Sustainable Commitment With Strategic Innovation

Jakarta, 13 June 2025 – MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, continues to strengthen the implementation of sustainable mining principles through various innovative programs. This is implemented in order to optimize the benefits of mineral and coal resources, by maintaining the environmental sustainability and social welfare of the communities in its operational areas.

The commitment is reflected by a number of initiatives implemented by MIND ID Group Members, among which is the *Q-Nest ASHA* and Eco Teraco programs. Both programs prove that innovation in the mining sector can be directed to strengthen social and ecological contribution, specifically in the areas surrounding the mines.

MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Pria Utama, said that the implementation of sustainable mining principles will provide a more optimal impact if accompanied by innovative program development.

“As a state-owned company, MIND ID wants to become the mover of sustainable innovation in order that the mining sector not only gives economic benefits, but also create a better social and environmental impact,” Pria disclosed. 

He explained that the *Q-Nest ASHA* program is a community-based economic empowerment initiative designed to assist former illegal miners to change profession to become modern quail farmers. The program provides an environmentally friendly alternative with minimal land needs for people in the operational areas of PT Bukit Asam Tbk.

Currently, quail farming is able to produce up to 300 eggs per month for farmers, provide reasonably priced source of protein and readily accessed by the people. 

Meanwhile, the Eco Teraco program from PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, is an innovation that changes nickle mining waste into environmentally friendly building material. The material produced is designed to answer the needs of sustainable infrastructure while at the same time, support circular economic principles in modern mining practice.

“This program is also a tangible form of our efforts to ensure that mining waste will not be a burden to the environment, but the opposite, a valuable asset,” Pria added.

Both programs were exhibited at the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals (SDGI) 2025, a leading program of the United Nations Global Compact which allows young innovators throughout the world in their mission to build solutions based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“We are thankful that this sustainable innovation program receives appreciation. Of course, we will continue to create many more sustainable, innovative programs and products, which not only provides added value for MIND ID’s business process, but also for the mining industry sector nationally,” he stressed.
