MIND ID Group Optimistic in Achieving Net Zero Emission of Mining Holding in 2060

Jakarta, 14 Feb 2023 – MIND ID or Mining Industry Holding Company is committed to continue its achievements in the creation of Net Zero Emission in each operational area of MIND ID Members by conducting sustainable strategic programs. This was stated in the Economic Outlook 2023 held at JS Luwansa, South Jakarta (12/02).

MIND ID Group’s Director for Operations and Portfolio, (Danny ….), stated that the MIND ID Group is firmly committed to support the Indonesian Government’s program related to Net Zero Emissions 2060. The commitment takes the form of several concrete commitments in three main pillars of the MIND ID Group, which is an elaboration of SDG’s 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals 2030).

“In support of the Indonesian government’s commitment in Net Zero CO2 Emission 2060, the MIND ID Group is committed to conduct an energy transition strategy based on three pillars, namely, To Prevent, To Reduct, To Mitigate.  What’s more, we are also exploring each pilllar of the SDGs and see whether there is any opportunity to elaborate in the programs of each group, particularly investments that support downstreaming and sustainable energy,” said Danny.

MIND ID has three pillar programs, namely, To Prevent, which is to investigate, provide infrastructure, and to improvise the reduction of carbon in each business chain; while To Reduce would be to conduct emission reduction as fast as possible; and lastly, To Mitigate, would be to reprocess every residue produced.  With the three pillars, the MIND ID Group is optimistic to achieve Net Zero Emission in 2060, in line with the plan of the Indonesian Government.

But Danny does not feel that the optimism can be made only with cross sectoral collaboration as Net Zero Emission must be supported by regulation, technology and willingness of each industrial entity to collaborate.  These three items, said Danny, can create a conducive industrial ecosystem that enables investment and corporate development to continue.

“The challenges towards Net Zero Emission 2060 are very profound and, of course, it is heavy to realize the commitment. But we can see that all parties and all sectors must collaborate synergetically and holisticly, as this spirit cannot be created if we work alone. With collaboration, we can guard two sides, namely maintain investment and create downstreaming. That is why we have to prepare Indonesia to become a conducive ecosystem, while caring for the environment,” added Danny.

The MIND ID Group’s commitment in Net Zero Emssion and Renewable Energy becomes part of the big vision of its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  With its Good Mining Practice for Sustainability Pathways, MIND ID has six main aspects in managing SDG’s 2030, namely, Management and Transformation of Energy; Water Management; Good Mining Practice; Waste Management; Management of Waste and Pollution; and Creation of Industrial Ecosystem Beneficial for the People. The six aspects are adopted and adapted to the characteristics of MIND ID Members in all operational areas.
