MIND ID Group synergizes with North Maluku Farmers to produce First Corn Harvest, Complying with Social & Environmental Responsibilities

Jakarta, 9 June 2023 – MIND ID, the Holding State Enterprise for the Mining Industry, through its member, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), specifically via its North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit, together with the farmers of Gamesan Village, Maba District, East Halmahera Regency, have successful harvested sweet corn  on Tuesday, 6 June 2023.

The harvest would be the first by the North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit together with the Harmony Farmers Group at Gamesa Village. The harvest produced 3,352 corn cobs.

The Harmony Famers Group is the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) partner of MIND ID Member, Antam North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit. MIND ID, through Antam, continues its efforts to provide guidance to the communities through various TJSL programs, specifically to local communities in the surrounding areas of the mine.

MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf, said that through Antam, the holding state enterprise of the mining sector is in line with the continuous empowering synergy to provide an impact for the economy of the communities living in the surrounding areas of the mine, one of which is being conducted by the Harmony Farmers Group.

“We from MIND ID appreciates and offer our thanks to the commitment of the Harmony Farmers Group members, for synergizing with Antam in developing their corn horticulture,” said Heri Yusuf.

He went on to say that when the smelter is operational in 2023, the need for horticultural food crops such as corn and also fruits in the areas surrounding the smelter, will continue to rise. Antam has prepared six hectares of land which will become the horticultural land in the North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit.

Heri said that MIND ID continue its efforts, as well as initiatives, to develop various Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs of the company, one of which is to develop horticultural fields. Through such development, it is expected that the economy will also benefit as well as raising the welfare of farmers living in the surrounding areas of North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit.

“We hope that in future the development of the horticultural sector, through the company’s TJSL program, will increasingly be able to raise the income of the local communities. The first corn harvest was planted on land which is not yet productive,” said Heri.

MIND ID, Heri continued, will continue to give its full support to enable the local communities in the surrounding areas of the mines, become more economically independent. He also encouraged the continuous spirit and synergy between ANTAM and the surrounding communities to be kept alive.

As a member of the MIND ID Holding State Enterprise of the Mining Industry, Antam always endeavours to provide guidance and education to the communities through various CSR programs, particularly to the local people living in the surrounding areas of the mines.

Meanwhile, Vice Regent of East Halmahera, Anjas Taher, in his speech expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Antam North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit, who has provided counseling and assistance to the communities in raising the creative economy.

“We, the regional government, very much appreciate and thank PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, from the MIND ID Group, who has been a big contribution in implementing TJSL programs, one of which is through the development of the agricultural sector,” said Anjas.
