MIND ID President Director, Hendi Prio Santoso, together with representatives from the Association of Indonesian Army Retirees (PPAD), Kodam XVI Pattimura, Pattimura University and Andarinyo Go Earth (AGE) Foundation, are collaborating to conduct a visit to the breadfruit seedling nursery in Ambon City, Maluku.

Seedlings of these Maluku breadfruit trees come from the trees in the villages of Tengah-Tengah and Tulehu, District of Salahutu, Maluku Tengah (Central Maluku) and Latuhalat Village in Nusaniwe District, Ambon City. The nursery is managed by local farmers under the supervision of the Forestry team of Pattimura University.

The seedlings which produce small leaves, are put in polybags with planting media to make distribution process easier and more practical in large numbers.

“We are very impressed with the extremely high quality of the breadfruit seedlings from Ambon, the breadfruit seedlings are important not only for food security and diversity, but also for environmental conservation,” Hendi explained.

One million premium and high-quality breadfruit seedlings being prepared will eventually be distributed to the local people with the aim of supporting the Government in the preparation for food security and diversity programs.  Moreover, it also serves to mitigate vegetation-based disasters.
