Three MIND ID Group Members Get Subroto Award 2023 for Sustainable Principle Adoption

Jakarta, 29 September 2023 – MIND ID, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, continues to carry out sustainable operations, in line with the principles of Good Mining Practices. In running the operations of the company, all MIND ID group members set forth better usefulness for the environment and the people.

For these efforts, three MIND ID member companies have been given four Subroto Award 2023 held by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) on Friday, 29 September. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, in his speech, said that the Subroto Award is the appreciation given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to stakeholders in the ESDM sector with the best performance.

“The Subroto Awards are the highest awards given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to stakeholders who have shown the best performance in advancing the energy and mineral resources sector in Indonesia, in the past year,” said Arifin, in his speech, on Friday (29/9).

Arifin encourages all mining companies to continue undertaking innovation and downstreaming in order to provide added value for the nation and country. Moreover, the role of the mineral commodity is also important in supporting energy transition.

“Indonesia has many mineral resources which can be used to develop clean energy technology, but much more development is necessary for the processing and refining process as well as supporting industry. The government continues to boost the development of mineral downstreaming,” Arifin continued.

President Director of Mining Industry Indonesia, Hendi Prio Santoso, emphasizes that the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry will continue its sustainable operations and set forth the fulfillment of Environmental, Social and Governance or ESG principles. In the mining process, MIND ID will also stress to all of its members to continue conducting innovation and efficiency.

“MIND ID has an important role in the economic growth of Indonesia. We continually encourage our members to conduct their best efforts to provide added value to the country. We also conduct downstreaming activities and also technological development to respond to global challenges,” stressed Hendi.

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) received two awards at this opportunity. The first, Innovation, the Award for the Provision, Development, and Management of Nursery Facilities for the Mineral and Coal Mining Activities. The award is given to the holder of a Mining License who has contributed to the modernization, effectiveness, usefulness, replication potential, and sustainable innovation.

Secondly, PTBA has also received an award in the field of Most Innovative Coal Community Development and Empowerment.  The Most Innovative Coal Community Development and Empowerment is given to a Coal Mining Enterprise who has carried out the obligation of the most innovative Community Development and Empowerment program, as well as provide positive contribution to the local people living in the surrounding areas of the mines.

PT Timah Tbk has also received an award in the field of Mineral and Coal Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP). Such an award is given to companies for compliance and discipline in the payment of the PNBP and encourages the obligatory payment of the mineral and coal sector. PT Timah Tbk is a state enterprise that has the highest level of compliance in the payment of PNBP throughout 2023.

PT Freeport Indonesia has also received an award this year. PTFI received an award in the field of Human Resource Competency Development in the Energy and Mineral Resource Sector. The award is given to Business Entities, Permanent Business Entities, and Regional Governments in the energy and mineral resource sector, as well as Vocational Education Students who have shown achievements and contributed greatly to implementing the Human Resource competency development program in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) sector.
