MIND ID Group Consistent in EBT Infrastructure Development to raise Regional Economy

8 June 2023

Jakarta, 8 June 2023 – MIND ID, the Holding State Enterprise for the Mining Industry, is consistently producing environmentally friendly energy. One of the steps to do this is by developing infrastructure adopting renewable energy to raise regional economy, the benefit of which are directly enjoyed by the communities.

A member of MIND ID, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), has proven this by diversifying its business to become an integrated and sustainable world class energy and chemical company.

“Through PTBA, MIND ID presents several Solar Power Generators (PLTS) to support the needs for infrastructure development,” said MIND ID Corporate Secretary Heri Yusuf.

In the last three years, PTBA is aggressively reducing global carbon emission. PTBA has built a Solar Power Generator at the Soekarno Hatta Airport in cooperation with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). The Solar Power Generator consists of 720 solar panel system with photovoltaics of a maximum 241 Kilowatt-peak (kWp) and installed at the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) building, fully operational since 1 October 2020.

PTBA has also synergized with PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk in developing a 400 kWp capacity Solar Power Generator at the toll road of the Jasa Marga Group. The construction of the Bali Mandara Toll Road Solar Power Generator inaugurated 21 September 2022, has been running very well.

This toll road produces efficient energy and operational costs. It even supports the G20 Indonesia Presidency in November 2022, in one of the agenda promoting the issue of energy transition.

That’s not all, PTBA and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 24 February 2023, to develop Solar Power Generators in other toll roads under the management of Jasa Marga.

“The MoU extension has become a means of sustainable collaboration and synergy for State Enterprises to support the global carbon emission reduction,” said Heri Yusuf.

Aside from developing business in the field of renewable energy, PTBA is also developing the Solar Power Generator program to revise agriculture irrigation pumps aimed at raising the prosperity of people living in the surrounding areas of the Company.

The Solar Power Generator irrigation CSR program is an effort of PTBA to boost the use of renewable energy, empower the people, while at the same time protect environmental conservation. Solar Power Generator as a source of energy for irrigation pumps is able to raise the frequency of annual harvest and productivity of farmers.

“The existence of irrigation by Solar Power Generators has enabled three times a year harvest for the farmers,” said Heri Yusuf.

There are at least five irrigation by Solar Power Generators which have been constructed by PTBA, the irrigation by Solar Power Generator at Trimulyo Village, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung; one in Talawi Village, Sawahlunto Municipality, West Sumatera; one in Tanjung Raja Village, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatera; one in Nanjungan Village, Lahat Regency, South Sumatera; and one in Rejosari Mataram Village, in Lampung Tengah Regency, Lampung.

Currently, PTBA is also looking at a cooperation to develop a Solar Power Generator with PT Timah Tbk.  The plan is to have a Solar Power Generator developed at the operational site of PT Timah Tbk as a form of synergy of MIND ID Holding members.

The MoU on renewable energy development synergy has been signed 26 January 2023. PTBA, through its subsidiary, PT Bukit Energi Investama (BEI) will build the Solar Power Generator to support the operational activities of PT Timah.

Electricity generated by the Solar Power Generator will be used for the operational activities of production (dredger), lighting, and office needs, which is expected to contribute to lower emission and more efficient energy cost.

The plan to develop Solar Power Generators will also be implemented in a number of former mining land of PTBA, such as the Ombilin former mining land in West Sumatera of 201 hectares and in Tanjung Enim of 224 hectares with Solar Power Generator potential in each of the land reaching 200 Megawatt. Moreover, there is also the Bantuas former mining land of 30 hectares in East Kalimantan with a potential of 30 MW.
