MIND ID Group Planted 1,056 Trees for Toba Lake Conservation

Jakarta, 12 July 2022 – MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, continues to encourage Members PT ANTAM Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum (Persero) and PT Timah Tbk to realize their reclamation obligation and commitment and the planting of trees. Inalum Operating has realized tree planting on a total of 1,056 ha for the conservation of Toba Lake for the 2016-2021 period. In 2022, Inalum Oprating has set a target of 260 hectares for its tree planting program.

Meanwhile, ANTAM, Bukit Asam, and TIMAH has set a reclamation target of 499.26 hectares in 2022. Up to May 2022, the total reclamation of land under the obligation of ANTAM, Bukit Asam and TIMAH reached 231,81 hectares. MIND ID continues to drive its Members and affiliates to implement their operational obligations and responsibilities in accordance with the prevailing regulations.

MIND ID Director of Institutional Relations, Dany Amrul Ichdan, said that “MIND ID encourages MIND ID Members to implement strategic good mining practice policies by complying and undertaking reclamation obligations as well as efforts to plant critical land in the surrounding areas of operations.  These efforts constitute MIND ID’s commitment to create a balance in the achievements of economic and environmental objectives to ensure sustainability of the Company.”

To support the achievement of the sustainable development objectives as well as commitment to realize the ICMM (International Council on Mining and Metals) aspect, MIND ID has stipulated 6 sustainable pillars, namely, Environment and Climate Change, Economic Development, People, Smart Operation, Community and Society, and Governance.

The Company also has a Sustainable Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Guidelines aimed at providing directives for MIND ID and MIND ID Members in managing their ESG performance in mining operations.

MIND ID intends to conduct mining operations in a responsible manner, apply sustainable principles, and become a world class mining company.  This is in line with the Noble Purpose of MIND ID, namely We Explore: Natural Resources for Civilization, Prosperity, and Brighter Future.

The guidelines are made on the basis of the results of the gap analysis towards ICCM Principles and Performance Indicators 2020 as well as material analysis of mining company sustainable issues of MIND ID Members in 2020-2025.
