Inalum Operating Plants 500 Seedlings for State-Owned Enterprise Tree Planting Day

Jakarta, 29 November 2021 – INALUM Operating, Member of the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, MIND ID plants 500 Macadamia tree seedlings at the village of Marbun Tongga Marbun Dolok, Bukit Raja District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatera Province, on 28 November 2021. The activity is part of the State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) Simultaneous Tree Planting Program initiated by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises in commemorating national tree planting day.

Director of Operation and Portfolio, Danny Praditya, said that the BUMN Tree Planting Program is part of the Company’s commitment, aimed at supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in general, and specifically to maintain the Water Catchment Area of Lake Toba.  The tree planting program is one of the activities of the six pillars of the company’s sustainable roadmap, namely Environment and Climate Change.

This activity constitutes the collaboration of the Corporate Social and Environmental Programs to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, namely, Goal 1 No Poverty, 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, 13 Climate Action, 15 Life on Land, and 17 Partnership for the Goals, which is implemented by putting forward the principles of accountability, integration, direction and measurement of impact.

The BUMN Tree Planting Program is simultaneously conducted in 7 points throughout Indonesia, involving the Regional Governments and Nature Loving University Students, in DKI Jakarta presided by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprise Erick Thohir, North Sumatera (Toba Lake), Lampung (Wai Sekampung), Riau (Pekanbaru), Banten (Rangkasbitung), East Java (Malang), South Sulawesi (Makassar), totaling 3,970 endemic tree seedlings.

Aside from the BUMN Tree Planting Program, INALUM Operating is also committed to plant 33,196 tree seedlings around Lake Toba through the Conservation Program of Lake Toba Water Catchment Area, in cooperation with various stakeholders.  The type of tree seedlings planted range from mahogany, trembesi, ketapang, avocado, durian, pecan, sugar palm, macadamia nuts and pine.

Up to the end of 2021, INALUM Operating targets 148 thousand tree seedlings planted in 297 Ha through the Conservation Program of Lake Toba Water Catchment Area. Up to 26 November 2021, as many as 77% or 114,900 tree seedlings have been planted in 229.8 Ha of land.

On MIND ID
