MIND ID Group’s Fostered Community Succeeds in Partnership Program

15 March 2024

Jakarta, 15 March 2024 – As the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry in Indonesia, MIND ID is consistent in its efforts to accelerate performance as the key to the sustainability of the company. This is in line with the purpose of the government to boost the added value of national mining products.

MIND ID Group is also proactive in developing the local economy by putting forward local economic potential in each operational area of the Holding Member.

The Company hopes that more people will be capable of running their business. MIND ID Group continues to provide mentorship, curation, and guidance for their fostered partners, as well as gaining access to capital.

Nuriani is an example of a successful woman under the fostered partnership of MIND ID Group’s Holding Member, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM), Konawa Nickel Mining Business Unit of Southeast Sulawesi. Her seriousness in developing her hobby of making rope knitting crafts has been successful and has made her activities profitable.

Since 2014, Nuriani’s products have enticed buyers from her nearest colleagues. She designed her rope knitting craft to become various products such as curtains, key holders, and other simple accessories.

As a member of the MIND ID Group Holding Member’s partnership program, her products have expanded and Nuriani was successful in developing her business. She began making various bags based on her rope knitting motives. More people became interested in her Meohai Tali Kur products and the market expanded.

Currently, Nuriani has succeeded in recruiting women from surrounding areas and provided skills training on how to weave the rope knits to become products ready for the market.

Aside from Nuriani, another example is one of the UMKM or Micro/Small/Medium Enterprise under the guidance of INALUM, the palm fiber broom (sapu ijuk) business of Subari. Since 2018, when he became a Foster Partner of INALUM, MIND ID Group Holding Member, he was able to employ workers from the surrounding areas of Bandar Masilam, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatera.

Since becoming a foster partner of INALUM, Subari’s business of palm fiber brooms has increased production, from previously about 200 per week, to about 8,000 brooms per week. This, of course, has also raised the number of workers.

Most of the people living in the surrounding areas are working in this business, particularly women who are skilled in producing hand-crafted goods. The products consist of palm fiber brooms, broomsticks, mops, washing sponges, furniture, ropes, mats, and other household tools, marketed from North Sumatra, to the surrounding provinces such as Aceh, Riau, Jambi, and Dumai.

MIND ID Corporate Secretary Heri Yusuf explained that the successful stories of Holding Members’ foster partners are proof of MIND ID Group’s seriousness in assisting the local economy of mining operational areas.

“The determination of Holding Members such as ANTAM and INALUM to develop the UMKM potential does not stop, we intend to continue advancing UMKMs in creating added value for the sake of strengthening and even distribution in Indonesia,” he said.
