MIND ID Supports Environmental Conservation Program for Sustainability

Sawahlunto, 14 June 2022 – MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, with members PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum (Persero) dan PT Timah Tbk, is committed towards environmental conservation efforts, specifically in West Sumatera.  MIND ID, together with the West Sumatera Provincial Government, discuss the potential collaboration of mangrove planting in Pantai Padang Panjang, West Sumatera. 

MIND ID Director of Institutional Relations, Dany Amrul Ichdan, said that “MIND ID continues to support the Provincial Government’s strategic programs for sustainability, specifically in the surrounding areas of MIND ID Group’s operations. The Company has the mandate to manage natural resources for civilization, welfare and a brighter future, through good environmental governance, one of which is the planting of mangroves at Pantai Padang Panjang, West Sumatera.”

The initiative resulted at the time Dany and the Human Resource Director (atau Human Capital Director) of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (Bukit Asam), Suherman, paid an official visit to West Sumatera Governor, H. Mahyeldi Ansharulla, S.P. and Sawahlunto Mayor, Deri Asta in Sawahlunto, 4 June 2022. The potential collaboration in the field of sustainability between MIND ID and the West Sumatera Provincial Government and Sawahlunto Municipal Government, is also one of the manifestations of the commitment to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Number 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Number 15 (Life on Earth).

West Sumatera Governor H. Mahyeldi Ansharullah welcomes the initiative to conduct a strategic collaboration in environmental conservation and hopes that the initiative is not only in the context of business sustainability, but sustainability towards better civilization in future.

MIND ID Group’s commitment in environmental conservation is manifested through the mining land reclamation target.  Throughout 2021, as many as 5,814 hectares of former mining land have undergone reclamation. MIND ID Group’s reclamation efforts reflect its commitment to implement good governance and operational practice. The reclamation program undertaken is part of the mining operational cycle of the MIND ID Group and will be continued throughout its operational activities.

Bukit Asam conducts sustainable programs in West Sumatera as a manifestation of the Company’s commitment to achieve SDGs.  In the field of local economic development, Bukit Asam manages the Sawahlunto State-Owned Enterprise House, which is an outlet for Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises, to develop products such as honey, coffee, songket traditional cloth, among others.

In line with the spirit of the G20 presidency program, specifically environmentally friendly energy, Bukit Asam also develops a solar power generator (PLTS) which distributes electricity to the irrigation pump for agriculture of the local communities.  This program reflects the commitment of the MIND ID Group in supporting food security while at the same time playing an active role in making a positive contribution directly impacting the communities, specifically in the surrounding areas of operations.
