16 December 2022

Jakarta, 16 December 2022 – MIND ID, the State-Owned Holding Company of the Mining Industry, again received recognition at the PR Excellence Award 2022 held by PERHUMAS Indonesia on 15 Deccember 2022 at the Jakarta Theatre, Central Jakarta. The North Maluku Integrated Coconut Program under the stewardship program of PT ANTAM Tbk (ANTAM) received the Runner Up 2 Award in the Social/Corporate Social Responsibility category.

MIND ID’s Head of Institutional Relations, Niko Chandra, said that the award constitutes an appreciation for the hard work of the MIND ID family, who have expressed its commitment in providing sustainable benefits to the communities.

“The MIND ID family expresses its appreciation for this award. The commitment of the Company in providing sustainable benefits according to the SDGs pillars have been acknowledged, appreciated, and given the honour in this prestigious event. We hope that the CSR program of the MIND ID Group will always get the support from all stakeholders,” said Niko.

The North Maluku Integrated Coconut Industry Program is one of the Corporate Social Responsibility/Social Environmental Responsibility Programs initiated by one of the members of MIND ID, ANTAM, in collaboration with Varamau Institute. This program utilizes coconut husk waste to be processed into products of high economic value. The products constitute, among others, Coconet which is woven coconut husk which functions to prevent landslides and erosion; Cocopeat used as planting media in reclamation of land; and Cocopot which is more environmentally friendly to replace polybags.

ANTAM selected the program as coconuts are in abundant supply, the potential of which have not been fully utilized by the local people, the substantial amount of coconut waste produced, and the low price of copra, prompting ANTAM to seek another alternative from coconuts which can raise the local economy. As a commitment of the Company to assist the development of the program, ANTAM purchased directly 3,764 rolls or 188,200 m2 of Coconet and Cocopeat for the reclamation needs of former mining lands. This is Rp 1,246,900,000 more efficient compared to the purchase of Coconet from other suppliers.

Niko said that this program has been running for five years and has been programmed on the basis of MIND ID Holding’s Sustainability Pathway, which is in line with the sustainability vision of SDGs 2030 and the Indonesian Government.

“The Coconut Industry Program has been initiated by ANTAM since 2018 and shall continue. The program begins with assessment, mentoring, to raising class and quality of the product, guidance is provided therefore in a holistic manner. The steps are in line with MIND ID Sustainability Pathway, which is Environment & Climate Change, and Economic Development,” Nika concluded.

MIND ID’s Sustainability Pathway program has six pillars, in line with the guidelines of SDGs 2030, namely, Environment & Climate Change, Smart Operations, People, Community and Society, Economic Development, and Governance.
